Before joining The Candidate I was working at an educational recruitment firm where I got to know the recruitment industry. The main skills I developed in my role as Principal Resourcer were building and maintaining strong relationships with candidates, recruitment administration and adhering to legal compliance ensuring that all candidates where legally allowed to work in educational establishments. I was in this role for over a year during which I was really inspired by the recruitment industry and knew I wanted to specialise in this field but felt I had achieved everything I could in my current role. My friend Rachel told me there was an opportunity where she worked, at The Candidate. She seemed to love her job and was getting loads of opportunities so I thought it sounded like something I would like to hear more about.

Rachel arranged a meeting with Brian Matthews a Managing Partner at The Candidate and Simon Clarke the Head of Agency Recruitment and I was keen to attend. On the evening of my interview I won't lie but I was a bit nervous however when I spoke to Brian and Simon I soon felt at ease. They were warm and fun and I quickly realised this would be a nice place to work. Through the interview they were jovial but professional and I had a good opportunity to talk about my experience and to hear more about The Candidate who specialise in Digital Marketing Recruitment. They also gave me a tour of the office and it seemed casual and relaxed which I liked.

When I left I thought the interview had went well and was pleased when Brian asked me to meet them again for another chat. It was nice that they asked me to meet them for the second interview in a restaurant, (this was definitely not what I was used to in interviews) and was delighted when they offered me the job! I was really happy as I felt that this would be a great opportunity for my recruitment career and the change I had been looking for.

Once I had completed my notice period at my previous job I was ready to start at The Candidate. My first impressions were that everyone was very welcoming and quickly made to feel part of the team. The way they do recruitment is very different to what I am used to and the office environment is relaxed but hardworking. It was nice to arrive on the first day and they had a laptop and work phone for me as well as a stocked kitchen! It's clear that everyone here loves their job as they have a great social culture and all seem to be friends. They are constantly sharing information about their jobs and candidates to help them get the best people for the role. They also like to go for a drink after work and I think I will fit right in! The role is completely new to me in that it focuses on digital jobs but I am quickly getting to know all the terms and qualities to look for when sourcing good candidates for the roles.

I am ready to take on this new challenge learning the processes and ways of The Candidate. This firm definitely seems to be thriving and I feel like I have joined them at a very prosperous and exciting time. I really pride myself on building and maintaining relationships with good candidates and I feel like The Candidate's values are the same and they are constantly filling their books with talent and finding the best fit roles for them and in turn best candidates for their clients. I am ready to step up and grow my experience and skill set to prepare me for a bigger role in recruitment and feel like I am definitely in the best place to do so!
