Clara Black - Graphic Designer at NUCO Travel
Clara BlackNUCO TravelHi Clara! What attracted you to your new role and what has been the best part?
Not only had I heard of NUCO but I had also been a customer, which definitely sparked my initial attraction. I knew the company was well run, successful and had a great team behind it. The best part of the role so far has been both the people I work with and the many different and exciting projects I get to work on, specifically with big name partners.
What were you looking for in a new role?
After being freelance for a year, I was looking to work in a team again and expand on my knowledge and creativity. I wanted to be challenged more, which has absolutely come from the role in the best way. I also love having a 9 - 5.30 routine again, which helps in so many aspects of my life.
What interests you most about your industry?
The experiences we create and the dedication we have for our customers. Being a part of NUCO, it is so clear that we always go above and beyond for every single person. In addition, the opportunity to expand these experiences across the world.
What type of person excels in this type of role?
A person who is dedicated, hard working, communicates well and understands the company’s ethics.
What is the best preparation you have had for this role?
The interview process was incredibly helpful to prepare. I had a task, multiple calls with people across different teams and regular updates. My advice would be, put your all into the process, don’t be afraid think outside the box and most importantly be yourself!
What are the highlights of your job?
Firstly would be the people I work with, no doubt there is a mutual respect between every employee and we all communicate well - it creates a relaxed environment, even when the pressure is on! Secondly would be the projects, and the opportunities that come from these. We are in the middle of a partnership with ASOS, which has been incredibly exciting. Thirdly is learning about the different roles and using as a result expanding my knowledge as not only a designer, but an employee.
What are the challenges of your role?
Deadlines are sometimes ASAP, which creates a challenge initially. However after communicating, the process becomes smooth and achievable.
What added value did you get from job hunting with a recruitment agency such as us here at The Candidate?
Mainly the advice on how to approach interviews and tasks, whilst also receiving regular updates on how the role was progressing. Meg (The Candidate's B2B Marketing Recruitment Manager) truly made me feel like I had a team behind me whilst in the application process, and not just being a one-man-band.
