1. Hello, and thank you for letting us interview you for our digital agency showcase. What is your main job role and responsibility within Space 48?
As managing director of Space 48, I oversee everything that happens in the company; specifically projects and business development, and generally making sure things are heading in the right direction.
2. Please could you pick a case study from 2012, and explain why you have chosen it to represent Space 48's work?
I have chosen Naylors.com as our case study, which is a Rochdale-based family-run business, specialising in quality equestrian products and supplies.
Naylors.com as our case study,Naylors is a great example of an eCommerce business that we implemented extremely successful SEO and PPC campaigns for. The key result being that we helped to increasewebsite traffic year on year, with the most successful period being from March 2012 - March 2013.
As a result of the successes achieved through our campaigns and the great close-working relationship we have built with the team at Naylors, the company has also asked us to redesign their entire website.
3. How did you implement the campaign strategy from the brief you were set?
The brief we were supplied by Naylors required us to increase brand awareness, conversion, iGoogle ranking and generate more revenue through relevant visitors to the site. It was a fully rounded brief which we were very excited to be a part of.
We started by implementing a campaign using both SEO and PPC strategy. To ensure consistent and effective results, a fixed budget was put in place each month and a marketing plan was drawn up. We focused our efforts in creating and distributing quality content along with improving the optimisation of the website, including regular link building and on-page optimisation.
In terms of PPC activity, we wanted to show a significant increase in exposure; with a clear return on investment so it was agreed to double the spend. This achieved excellent results across keyword selection and landing pages. We also created a range of effective adverts and implemented developments to improve product-listing conversions.
5. Could you tell us what results were derived from the campaign strategy, and any positive feedback that Space 48 received from the campaign?
The results from both the SEO and PPC marketing campaigns were extremely impressive. The year on year results for organic search from the SEO campaign revealed a 194.62% increase in total visits, and 231.45% increase in transactions - with big increases in total revenue and average order value.
The PPC campaign was just as impressive with a 242.5% increase in total visits, 520.77% increase in transactions, plus big increases in total revenue and average order value.
We were given very positive feedback from the client, and as a result of our successes, Naylors invested in a responsive site redesign, which we completed in April 2013 that has further improved both site performance and revenues.
In addition, Naylor.com was subsequently nominated for Best Use of Search at this year's Big Chip Awards.
6. Could you give a top tip to any perspective digital marketing candidates who would like to work in an agency like Space 48?
Have an online presence, be it on Twitter or through your own website. Agencies love to see personality and proactivity. Your website or Twitter page is your chance to shine, it's a brilliant way to connect with companies and key decision makers. Oh, and wear some trendy spectacles.
The Candidate's comment:
Here at The Candidate we are certainly impressed by the campaign standard delivered by Space 48. It's no surprise that the work Space 48 completed for Naylors was shortlisted for an award at the Big Chips. Big congratulations to Space 48 on its expansion and growth, and best of luck for the future.
