Sophie Parkin has recently joined us as an eCommerce Recruitment consultant. She brings with her a love of digital and a solid base of recruitment experience. Hear her story and why she has landed here with us all at The Candidate!
Whilst studying at University, I discovered my real love for Digital Marketing. I was taking part in an internship for a magazine - where, to be honest, I found myself caring more about the internship than my actual degree.
I found myself in a position wanting to continue with the magazine and continue my love of Digital Marketing, fashion and lifestyle following from University. This is when I began to follow The Candidate. I saw their reputation, approach and marketing as a sort of classy way of recruitment - this was after university when of course, I found myself being hounded and very put off other recruiters.
The realisation of leaving University soon dawned on me and I soon realised I needed a career where I could make money, and (hopefully) still do something I love. I began my recruitment journey with an engineering company, this however was not the industry I wanted to be in; I wasn't passionate or interested, and didn't actually know what I was talking about!
This is when I decided to take the plunge and move forward. Sure, I could have stayed with my previous company. But why? After being approached by another Digital Marketing recruitment company, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I knew I wanted to go to The Candidate. So, I messaged Laura and she was so helpful; she made me feel so welcome! The process was quick, and from the get go I felt at home.
I feel the Candidate stands out from the rest because of the following:
- Before the Candidate, I had the fluttering memories of 'standard recruiters' ‘salesy’ ways; selling you hopes and dreams, then disregarding you at the drop of the hat. This doesn't happen here. We’re called The Candidate for a reason; to build relationships with you and help you.
- Relationships with the (take out) clients - You can see the sheer respect the company gets by their relationships with clients.
- Finally, the team itself. There's a reason this company wins awards - they're a family, who help each other every step of the way.
Flash forward to now. As I'm about to finish my first month at The Candidate, I look back at what's been an amazing first month, and feel quite honored to be part of a family, a great team and a respected company. I feel proud to be getting people roles in an industry that's so thriving, and finally being able to talk about something I have a deep interest in.
It's my final week of my first month, and what a month it's been! My advice, everything happens for a reason, trust your gut and don't settle.
