Recruitment and Coffee: Why coffee is good for business

5 Mins

Where would we all be without coffee? Working in the fast paced and often stressful environment that is the Marketing Recruitment agency world, coffee is often the key that leads us back on to the path we veer off from when our concentration levels dip and brain block takes over. Yes, it's hard to believe but it happens to us too! Even when recruiting for exciting advertising agency jobs and digital marketing jobs, the Nespresso machine is required.

Although there have been numerous claims that coffee is bad for you, the high caffeine drink has been making the headlines recently as having many benefits! A claim we are loving here at The Candidate, as we live for our caffeine indulgence between the hours of  7.30am and 6pm (and maybe after those hours too).

Recruitment Coffee Benefits

Here are some of the benefits were liking the most:

  1. Coffee is apparently great for your liver (especially if you drink alcohol).

A study published in 2006 that interviewed 125,000 people over the course of 22 years showed that those who drink at least one cup of coffee a day were 20 percent less to develop liver cirrhosis. Who would have thought it huh? Guilt free after work drinks, nearly.

     2. Drinking coffee could help keep your brain healthier for longer.

Researchers from the University of South Florida and the University of Miami found that people who were aged 65 and older who had higher blood levels of caffeine in their system developed Alzheimer's disease two to four years later than others with low caffeine levels in their systems.

     3. Coffee may make you smarter.

You usually drink coffee when you are sleep-deprived and need a boost, right? Well, that much-needed energy boost not only wakes you up, it makes you sharper. Coffee allows your brain to work in a much more efficient way. American TIME reporter, Michael Lemonick, says, "When you're sleep-deprived and you take caffeine, pretty much anything you measure will improve: reaction time, vigilance, attention, logical reasoning -- most of the complex functions you associate with intelligence."

     4. Just smelling coffee could make you feel less stressed.

Researchers at the Seoul National University studied the brains of rats who were stressed with sleep lack of sleep and discovered that those who were exposed to the smell of coffee experienced changes in brain proteins tied to that stress. Now, we're not entirely sure if this means you should keep a bag of roasted coffee beans on your nightstand every night, but feel free to try!

Do you struggle to wake up in the morning? Why don't you try waking up to coffee! The Caffeine enthusiasts here at The Candidate have heard that a coffee alarm clock, yes alarm clock could be making its way into our shops and onto our bedside tables. So instead of the annoying pre-set iPhone alarm, we can soon be waking up to the sound of brewing coffee! A noise that apparently "eases the user into the day with the subtle movement of stainless steel ball bearings that boil the water through induction heating.", delightful! British designer Joshua Renouf is bringing the coffee alarm clock on the market very soon. Keep your eyes peeled for the release date that is yet to be announced.
