SAScon1. Hello, and thank you for letting us interview you for our digital agency showcase. What is your main job role and responsibility within PushON?
I would describe my main role as mainly responsible for business development and business growth. Although I do not actively implement campaigns, I maintain a strategic oversight of delivery.
2. Please could you pick a case study from 2012, and explain why you have chosen it to represent PushON's work?
I have chosen to represent the work PushON completed for sportswear and sports clothing brand, Umbro. The task was spectacularly difficult, and it was vital to devise a creative solution for Umbro extremely quickly. The work required a mix of technical skill and creative marketing. In particular, a large amount of SEO expertise was required.
3. What brief were you initially supplied with, and what objectives did the PushON team devise when briefed?
Umbro approached PushON in 2011 with a problem they were facing with traffic to their current website. The website was built in Flash and it was awful in terms of search, difficult to use and did not convert into good results. We initially thought the solution would be a brand new website. However, Umbro was owned by Nike, and already had a New York based agency ready to design and launch a new website by July 2012.
However, the website launch would be too late for EURO 2012 when Umbro expected a surge in Football shirt sales, so there needed to be a quick solution before July. PushON were enlisted to improve search rankings to drive traffic, progress the existing website and build it in multi languages.
4. How did PushON implement the campaign strategy?
We realised we had to improve the website in a very short space of time. The greatest insight was that the current website was built in LAMP stack, a solution stack of free, open source software, and we then realised we would be able to crowbar unique Word press installations within it, and create subfolders for all the different languages.
5. Could you tell us what results were derived from the campaign strategy
The results were great and Umbro successfully saw an increase in traffic through core search terms, and they were very impressed with our work. Additionally, we provided a smooth transition for the New York agency to take over and continue with the web build for Umbro.
6. Could you provide a top tip to any perspective digital candidates who would like to work in an agency like PushON?
It is imperative to be visible on social media and have a meaningful blog, whether it is on Tumblr or WordPress. This demonstrates to me that the candidate is passionate about the industry. I actively search for these types of candidates. In addition, I would ask candidates applying for senior positions to be realistic about their SEO skills, as we are able to check and identify the standard that you are up to.
The Candidate's Summary
The Candidate is very impressed with PushON's professionalism when dealing with such a complex brief. PushON quickly discovered the cause of the issue, and resolved it in an effective approach. This case study clearly involved a vast amount of creative and technical skill, and PushON performed well for an extremely recognised brand such as Umbro.
The Candidate would like to congratulate PushON for such successful campaign, and wish them the best for 2013.
