New Starter Blog - Sam Such

Having recently started his role as Technology Recruitment Executive here at The Candidate, we caught up with Sam Such about how it was all going so far!

What attracted you to the candidate?

For me, The Candidate seemed like an ideal culture fit. Working in a fast paced and exciting environment, with a fun team who treat each other with respect, was a great match for me! Despite COVID restrictions, being able to socialise remotely with my colleagues has been a real pleasure!

What is your previous experience?

I was lucky enough to land my role here straight out of uni. This is my first role within the world of recruitment. Landing in tech recruitment was preferable for me because I have always had a keen interest in developing websites. When I was in primary and high school, I would develop websites for fun. Being able to use a hobby of mine in practice within my job is fantastic!

How was the remote interview and onboarding process for you?

Despite the occasional issue with WIFI lagging behind on a zoom call, I found the interview process smooth and enjoyable. It’s naturally a very different world we are living in right now, but being able to speak to the rest of the team all at once on Zoom made it much easier.

Being offered the job was an incredibly exciting day for me. Before my first day at The Candidate, I was lucky enough to join a virtual Zoom party with the rest of the team. Being able to meet and have a good laugh with the team made me feel welcome from the offset.

What is your new role at The Candidate and what will you be working on?

My role at The Candidate is working within Technology Recruitment. This means I help our candidates find new and exciting roles; whether that’s as a developer, engineer, consultant or project management. The possibilities of roles and clients to work with are endless.

What has been the highlight of your new role so far?

The personal highlight so far for me was earning my first contribution towards a fee. Being able to see my hard work resulting in money coming in was a real treat – and I can’t to get some more in!
