Jack Such has returned to The Candidate after a 3-year break completing postgraduate studies and gaining some industry experience. Check out what he has been up to and what his plans are for his return!
Hi Jack, it is great to have you back! For those who don’t know, what is your experience and what have you been up to?
My recruitment journey started at The Candidate 5 years ago. Whilst studying for my BSc Marketing, I worked within digital marketing which led me to integrate into a Recruitment Consultant role upon the creation of the new Technology department. After a successful 18 months, I relocated to North Wales to undertake further studies towards my MBA Law and Management at Bangor University. Throughout the duration of my MBA studies, I recruited into the Technology and Engineering sectors in North Wales and later joined a software house where I specialised in the sale of eCommerce and digital solutions. This was a pivotal aspect of my return to recruitment as I saw, more than ever, the real-life impact that positive recruitment can have on a technology-focused business and the necessity to recruit the best talent.
What are your plans now you are back?
After what seems an age in the making, I’m returning to The Candidate as a Senior Recruitment Consultant within the Technology department. Since I last worked in Technology Recruitment, the landscape has changed in Manchester as a result of massive Technology-focused companies such as Amazon and Microsoft bringing their businesses North. This means that we now have a rich pool of Tech talent in the region and the scope for this to grow in the next 10 years is infinite. My role is focused on placing the best talent across permanent IT and Technology roles throughout the region. Partnering with Blake Thompson, who heads up our Contract Recruitment department, we will be working alongside technically driven organisations who are looking to recruit across the scale of IT and Technology. Utilising my network and connections across North West and North Wales, I will be finding the perfect opportunities for my candidates which suits their niche skill sets.
In conjunction with the growing requirement for talented tech candidates, and despite the increasing opportunities for individuals to learn the basics of tech (including coding and hardware) from the comfort of your own home, there remains a deficit in the number of candidates who are able to fulfil all the technical requirements. That is where my role comes in… With several years’ experience within the Technology market and further experience within a software environment, I’m able to confidently identify the technical requirements within a project and review with candidates at a high level of detail. This ensures that the ideal languages and skillsets are delivered within the talent pool to fulfil the project needs.
No longer is a Recruitment Consultant’s role to simply fill a vacancy, it’s to offer niche knowledge and understanding to help consult employers and candidates. With a passion for technology and business, my new role will be to support those within my network by providing a wealth of knowledge and expertise to guide wherever possible.
