We caught up with Marketing Recruitment Consultant Victoria Fuentes, who told us all about her career background, the best parts of her new role, and even gives some advice for getting started in the industry!

What attracted you to The Candidate?

I heard such positive reviews about the working culture and team, which put me at ease! I’d been told that it was a fun, social, and good place to work – and when I met the team for the first time, we got on straight away! Our personalities and values matched really well, so I felt welcomed from the get go. Also, with my background in Marketing and eCommerce, working with a recruitment agency that focuses a lot on marketing roles seemed a great fit.

What is your previous experience and how has this helped you in your new role?

Coming from a Digital Marketing background has allowed me to fully understand the roles and communicate the requirements to the candidates in a straightforward way. Knowing about all things digital and having experience in this industry has also helped me find and contact the right candidates for the roles. Having also worked in fast fashion and on the agency side of the market too, I feel I’m now able to understand the client’s culture well, and find candidates with the right experience and culture fit.

How was the remote interview and onboarding process for you?

Super easy! The interview process was spilt into three stages:

Then on my first day of onboarding, I was in the office! It was great finally being able to meet people in person.

What is your new role at The Candidate and what will you be working on?

I am a Marketing Recruitment Consultant - I work with some really great clients and cover roles in all Marketing aspects. Some of the roles I have worked on so far include, PPC, SEO, Affiliates, Paid social, social media, influencer outreach, CRM and even graphic designer roles! Most of the roles are in Manchester but you still get some exciting roles on the outskirts of Manchester such as Macclesfield and London! A lot of roles are remote as well which give you the chance to find and speak to candidates from all over the UK!

What has been the highlight of your new role so far?

Learning how to be a 360 recruiter. This is when you are able to take on a job and find the right candidates for the role (180) but are also able to build and maintain relationships with clients who will pass on roles to you when vacancies become available (the other 180). Although my background is focused on PPC, this role has allowed me to learn about more areas of the Marketing industry – such as CRM, Social Media and affiliates! The team has been a massive highlight of my new role as well! We don’t just call ourselves a team, we behave like one too! We share roles, candidates, and insights with each other. We work on roles individually but often collaborate too (which makes it so much quicker!) and we celebrate each other’s success!
