Analytics Recruitment at The Candidate; Mighty Oaks From Little Acorns Grow

5 Mins

After months of planning and hard work, we are officially launching our new Analytics Department. Our Analytics Recruitment Manager, Leif Radford, talks to us about the department and our the types of companies that they are working with.

As an emerging department of a widely known, and well-respected, agency within the North West, the pressure was most definitely on. The senior team here at The Candidate have worked tirelessly to make the business the wonderful beast that it is today, which is something that I’ve been very conscious of as we set out on this new venture.

Despite feeling very stressed at times, in the last 6 months we’ve already been able to achieve a lot that we’re all really rather proud of, so now felt like a good time to reflect on how far we’ve come, and what lies ahead.

How Did We Get Here?
Our first major success has been that we’ve responded to the growing demand we were receiving for analytical candidates, by growing the Analytics Department with the addition of our first solely analytics-focused consultant, Felix Peach. By bringing Felix on board, we’ve had the scope to diversify the services we are able to offer to our existing client base, building on the fantastic work of our offline, digital marketing, ecommerce and creative departments, with brands such as N Brown and Dentsu Aegis/iProspect. As a result, we’re now working with multiple touchpoints across different teams, allowing everyone to share knowledge, deepen their understanding of the people we work with and how we can help them moving forward.

We’ve also helped the wider business cement strong working relationships with new clients. The majority of these have been big names in the North West who have worked with multiple other agencies historically. By making sure we delivered a fantastic candidate experience, word got out about who we were and eventually, some of these big players gave us a chance to show them who we are. So, we’re chuffed to say that as relative newcomers, we’ve managed to beat our competition to provide the support businesses such as Footasylum were looking for, in what can often be quite a niche and difficult area to recruit in.

More Than Just A Day Job
Felix and I have tried to be more than just a recruiter at the end of the phone by being actively involved in the Analytics Landscape. Attending events, listening to talks, and chatting over a drink with some of the wonderful people who work in the industry has been really eye-opening (and also a lot of fun). The talent in the North West at the moment is incredible and from what we’ve seen and heard, it’s only going to grow, so we’re excited to be part of it.

To date, we’re still most proud of the reception our service has had. The overriding feedback has been that we’ve managed to cut through the nonsense wherever possible, by understanding that we’re all human, to make recruiting just a little bit more enjoyable. Fortunately for us, neither I or Felix are from recruitment backgrounds (we’ve worked in marketing related jobs), so we can still empathise with both employers and candidates on a personal level. We try to maintain honesty and integrity in what we do, in the hope that not cutting corners will pay off in the long run.
