We’re delighted to be supporting a forward-thinking, high-growth financial services business in the search for an SEO Manager to join their expanding digital team. This is a genuinely exciting opportunity for a commercially minded SEO specialist to shape the future of organic visibility in an evolving digital landscape — with a renewed focus on generative search, AI platforms, and long-term strategic growth.

Overview

Reporting to the Head of Digital Marketing, the SEO Manager will lead the delivery of a best-in-class SEO strategy, balancing immediate wins with medium to long-term website optimisation. The successful candidate will play a key role in improving search rankings, increasing organic traffic, and driving lead generation — all while ensuring the business makes the most of developments in large language models (LLMs), AI platforms (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok), and emerging technologies.

The role will be supported by an external digital PR agency for off-site optimisation, while the SEO Manager will focus on technical and on-site SEO, keyword strategy, automation opportunities, and enhancing visibility for high-intent commercial search terms.

This isn’t a purely strategic role — we’re looking for someone who’s comfortable getting hands-on and delivering results at pace.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement and refine a comprehensive SEO strategy focused on technical excellence, high-performance content, and industry best practice.
  • Conduct regular keyword research and competitor analysis to identify opportunities for increased visibility.
  • Ensure the website remains optimised and in line with search engine updates and evolving user behaviour — including developments in AI-driven search and generative results.
  • Collaborate with developers and UX teams to improve site structure, speed, mobile usability, and crawlability.
  • Work closely with content and PR teams to shape organic content output, ensuring alignment with keyword strategy and commercial priorities.
  • Manage the relationship with an external digital PR agency to deliver high-quality backlinks and off-page optimisation.
  • Use leading SEO and analytics tools (e.g. Screaming Frog, Ahrefs, Search Console, Adthena, GA4) to monitor performance and report against agreed KPIs.
  • Explore opportunities to automate SEO tasks and streamline reporting.
  • Stay up to date with the latest SEO and digital marketing trends, with a particular focus on the impact of AI and language models.
  • Contribute to the broader digital strategy for client acquisition and retention.
  • Provide line management and performance support to team members, including appraisals and development planning, in collaboration with HR.

Experience & Skills Required

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience as an SEO Manager or in a senior SEO role.
  • At least 6 years’ experience delivering successful SEO strategies, ideally within a lead generation environment.
  • Strong track record of improving rankings, traffic and conversions across both short- and long-tail keywords.
  • Experience working in regulated sectors (e.g. legal, financial, healthcare) is highly desirable.
  • Proficient in industry-standard SEO tools such as Screaming Frog, Ahrefs, Adthena and Google Search Console.
  • Advanced knowledge of GA4 and data analysis, with an ability to report on ROI and marketing performance.
  • A clear understanding of how AI, automation and LLMs are influencing the SEO landscape.
  • Confident communicator, able to collaborate across departments and with external agencies.
  • Comfortable working independently, capable of balancing both hands-on delivery and strategic thinking.

Why Apply?

  • Play a central role in a business undergoing significant digital investment.
  • Help shape a brand-new website with search at the core.
  • Work closely with a high-performing digital and marketing team.
  • Be at the forefront of how AI and SEO intersect in a rapidly changing market.
